Loving the Prophet is the quickest way to Allah
Shaykh Hamza Yusuf

Our five senses are like five doors opening on the external world; but, more wonderful than this, our heart has a window that opens on the unseen world of spirit.

In the state of sleep, when the avenues of the senses are dosed, this window is opened, and we receive impressions from the unseen world and sometimes foreshadowings of the future.

Our hearts are like a mirror that reflects what is pictured in the Tablet of Fate. But, even in sleep, thoughts of worldly things dull this mirror, so that the impressions it receives are not clear. After death, however, such thoughts vanish, and things are seen in their naked reality.

Poem / quote n° 2966 : Ghazzali, (1058 -1111 A.D)
People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the river, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering.
St. Augustine
If any of you finds himself desiring water, let him wait a little—not because there is any harm in drinking water, but simply to discipline the ego and not accustom it to getting what it desires quickly.
Imam al-Dar‘ī
Be a true servant, pass back the reins to divine command.
Ibn ‘Ata’ Allah Al-Iskandari
Muhammad is a man, but not like all men. He is as a ruby among stones.

Muhammad is a man, but not like all men. He is as a ruby among stones.

Worshipping God to make one’s self feel better about one’s self is hardly worshipping God.
Imām Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Laṭīf Finch
Hearts are like vessels; as long as they are filled with water, air cannot enter them. So the knowledge of the majesty of God, the Exalted, cannot enter into hearts that are occupied with anything apart from Him.
Al-Ghazali
